The Chino Kaori Memorial 'New Visions' Lectures

The late Professor Chino Kaori
The untimely death of Professor Kaori Chino on December 31, 2001 was a shock to all her friends and colleagues around the world. The Medieval Japanese Foundation of New York received an initial grant for the establishment of a Chino Kaori Memorial "New Visions" Lecture Series to be administered by the Center for the Study of Women, Buddhism, and Cultural History, Kyoto and to be held once a year, alternately in Japan and abroad. The Chino Lectures are intended broadly to inspire new interpretive ways to understand Japanese visual arts in the context of religion, gender, narrative, and cultural history.
